Pune News : Commissioner of Railway Safety inspects newly constructed Nandre to Sangli double line railway work

The work of doubling of railway line on Pune- Miraj section is being carried out at a fast pace. In this phase-wise project , the work of doubling between Nandre and Sangli stations has been completed in this 12.62 kilometer section. The work of electrification has also been completed. Commissioner Railway Safety Mr. Manoj Arora, after detailed and thorough inspection on Monday 10th July of the doubling work of the railway lines between Nandre- Sangli has given consent to run the trains in this section. During this inspection he was accompanied by the Principal Chief Electrical Engineer of Central Railway N. P. Singh, Divisional Railway Manager Indu Dubey and many senior officers.

This work went on smoothly even during the rains and it was completed with adequate manpower following all the safety rules. Now the rail traffic will be smooth from both the lines on this railway route, which will help a lot in smooth and quick running of trains. Trains will not have to stop for crossing due to increase in the capacity of the track line in the section.

New electronic interlocking system has been provided at Sangli station and air conditioners have been installed in the relay room to maintain the efficiency of the machinery. Two rail lines will be provided separately for goods trains in Sangli yard, so that loading, unloading and shunting of goods trains can be done easily. At Sangli Station new station building has been constructed and also at Madhavnagar new station building, platforms have been constructed. Electronic interlocking system has been streamlined for double line operation at Nandre station.

So far, 164.07 km of doubling work has been completed out of 279.05 km of Pune – Miraj section and the remaining work is likely to be completed by March 2024.
