PUNE: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has expedited the Inner Ring Road project, initiating land acquisition across 13 villages to secure 115 hectares for the ambitious infrastructure plan. This 83-km-long ring road, Pune’s second after the MSRDC’s Outer Ring Road, is estimated to cost ₹14,200 crore and aims to enhance connectivity while reducing traffic congestion.

Key Developments in Land Acquisition

  • The district collector’s office has completed a joint survey and will proceed with land valuation.
  • Villagers have agreed to hand over land for the project, facilitating a smooth acquisition process.
  • The project will require 743.41 hectares from 44 villages across Khed, Haveli, Mulshi, and Maval talukas.
  • PMRDA has allocated ₹113 crore for land acquisition, with 30% of the amount already deposited with the collector’s office for the first phase.

Project Features and Connectivity

The Inner Ring Road will stretch 83 km, linking Pune-Satara Road with Ahmednagar Road. Key highlights of the project include:

  • 42 connecting roads, 17 bridges, and 10 tunnels
  • A dedicated 5-metre-wide metro track space
  • 65-metre-wide road under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model

The first phase, from Solu to Wadgaon Shinde, will ease congestion on Ahmednagar Road. Additionally, a 6.5-km stretch from Alandi to Wagholi on Ahmednagar Road is also in the land acquisition phase.

PMC’s Role and Land Acquisition Progress

5.7-km stretch of the Inner Ring Road falls within the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) limits, passing through Lohegaon. As per the agreement:

  • PMC will develop this section before transferring it to PMRDA.
  • PMC has initiated the acquisition of 3.7 lakh square metres of land.
  • Only 20,000 square metres have been acquired so far.
  • Jitendra Singh has been appointed as the contractor for land acquisition.

Villages Affected by Land Acquisition

The land acquisition process will impact 13 villages, including Wadachi Wadi, Bhilarewadi, Pisoli, Yewalewadi, Mangdewadi, Gujar-Nimbalkarwadi, Jambhulwadi, Ambegaon Khurd, Nirgudi, Kadamwakvasti, Solu, and Vadgaon Shinde.

Deputy Collector (Land Acquisition) Kalyan Pandhare stated, “PMRDA has submitted proposals to acquire 115 hectares. After measurement, land will be acquired through direct purchase with farmers’ consent.”

With land acquisition progressing rapidly, PMRDA aims to complete the first phase efficiently, improving Pune’s road infrastructure and suburban connectivity.
