A shocking case of alleged murder following a broken relationship has surfaced, where a young woman was found dead after reportedly being lured to a secluded location by her former partner.
The victim, Manisha Khamm Damai (25), was residing at Ayushi Complex near Pari Company Chowk in Narhe. Police have arrested the accused, identified as Prakash Arjun Tikhatrie (30), a Hinjawadi resident originally from Achham district in Nepal.
The complaint was filed by the victim’s brother, Kishan Bharat Parihar (35), at the Ambegaon police station on the day her body was discovered. According to officials, all three were natives of Nepal and were employed as watchmen in Pune.
Police investigations revealed that the relationship between Manisha and the accused had been strained for some time. Tikhatrie had reportedly lost his job, which led to frequent disputes between them. Eventually, Manisha decided to end the relationship, a move that allegedly left him angry and resentful.
On March 18, the accused allegedly contacted Manisha and asked her to meet him in the Narhe area. He is believed to have taken her to an isolated spot behind a hotel near the new Katraj tunnel along the Mumbai–Bengaluru bypass, an area surrounded by dense vegetation. During their meeting, an argument reportedly broke out, after which he allegedly strangled her with a rope and fled the scene.
Her body was later found in nearby bushes, prompting senior police officials to inspect the spot and launch a search operation. Once the suspect was identified, a manhunt was initiated to locate him.
After several days on the run, the accused was finally apprehended by the Ambegaon police on Saturday night. Authorities said that a combination of technical tracking and local intelligence played a key role in tracing him. Further investigation into the case is currently underway as police continue to examine all aspects surrounding the incident.
