Pune Police Gear Up For Ganeshotsav, 7000 Personnel And Thousands Of CCTV Cameras To Monitor City
With Ganeshotsav just around the corner, the Pune Police have begun preparations to ensure a safe and secure experience for devotees. To prevent thefts and untoward incidents, over 1,000 CCTV cameras will be installed across the city, keeping a watchful eye on potential criminals.
Instructions have been given to Ganesh Mandals to install CCTV cameras in their premises, while police help centers will be set up in central areas. Crowd disturbances will be monitored from towers in major squares, ensuring devotees can move freely.
A total of 7,000 police personnel will be deployed in crowded areas and key locations, starting from Saturday. The elaborate security arrangements aim to prevent terrorist activities, thefts, and other incidents.
The crime branch has initiated preventive action against potential criminals, with plainclothes police deployed to prevent mobile phone and jewelry theft. Women’s safety is a top priority, with strict action promised against those found harassing or molesting women.
Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar warned that offenders will face severe consequences, including public shaming. “Those who molest women will be caught, and their photos will be displayed publicly. We will not tolerate any wrongdoing,” Kumar stated.
