Residents of Anandvan Parisar in the NIBM Annexe Area of Pune took to the streets on the evening of March 21st, 2024, staging a candlelight protest to emphasize the pressing need for street light installations along the stretch from Raheja Circle to Dorabjee Mall road, in front of Raheja Vistas Phases 1 and 2, as well as Raheja Reserve Societies.

Led by Rohan Gaikwad, the chief of the MNS in the NIBM Kondhwa Pune area, and Tara Singh, President of APRF (A Forum of 31 Societies of Cloud 9, Raheja Vistas & NIBM Annexe Area Pune), the protest garnered participation from various demographics including senior citizens, women, retired defense personnel, and children.

Highlighting the persistent struggle for essential civic amenities, Shri Tara Singh recalled a previous demonstration organized by APRF residents on March 13th, 2022, addressing issues such as the Sunshree Anandvan slope approach road, access to tanker-free PMC drinking water, drainage infrastructure, STP Plant, and law enforcement. Subsequent to the protest, significant developments including the laying and reduction of the approach road slope, widening, installation of speed breakers, enhancement of lighting at Raheja Traffic Circle, road repairs, and plantation initiatives were undertaken.

During the candlelight protest, leaders from various societies within the area voiced their concerns. Tara Singh, President of APRF, expressed the community’s frustration and announced a three-day ultimatum to the PMC. If the authorities fail to address the residents’ demands within the stipulated time frame, further protests will ensue.

The demonstration serves as a collective plea from the residents of Anandvan Parisar for improved safety measures and infrastructure in their locality.
