Ratnagiri: Auto driver spiked 19-year-old nursing student’s drink, took to secluded place and raped her
The police are looking for the driver of the vehicle and the survivor has been admitted to a local hospital for treatment.
Amid ongoing outrage over Kolkata and Badlapur horror, a 19-year-old nursing student was allegedly drugged and raped while on her way home from college in Maharashtra’s Ratnagiri district.
The incident took place when the girl booked an auto from her college for a ride home. During the journey, the driver allegedly assaulted her after taking her to a secluded place and fled the scene. After regaining consciousness, the victim contacted her family members. They later filed an FIR.
The police are looking for the driver of the vehicle and the survivor has been admitted to a local hospital for treatment.
As per media reports, the nursing community in the city led protests over the incident demanding swift action in the case. Hospital staffers blocked traffic in several parts of Ratnagiri. The authorities have assured action against the culprit and urged the protestors to maintain calm.

The incident comes to light at a time when the nation is witnessing widespread protests seeking justice for a 31-year-old trainee doctor who was raped and murdered in Kolkata’s state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9. Healthcare professionals have been demanding laws for their security due to shifts at odd hours.
Moreover, a few days later, two minor girls were sexually assaulted at a school in Badlapur in Maharashtra.
