Sharad Pawar Admitted To Mumbai Hospital, Condition Reportedly Stable
Veteran leader Sharad Pawar has been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai for treatment and medical observation. Reports said his condition is stable.
Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) chief Sharad Pawar has been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. Reports said the 85-year-old veteran politician is under medical supervision and undergoing tests.
According to reports, Pawar was admitted after suffering a hand injury, while some reports said he was taken to the hospital for a routine health check-up. His condition is currently said to be stable.
Sharad Pawar had returned from Delhi two days before being admitted. He was reportedly expected to be discharged earlier, but doctors advised him to continue resting in hospital.
Recent Health Concerns
This is not the first time Pawar has required medical attention this year. In February 2026, he was admitted to hospital in both Mumbai and Pune.
At that time, his daughter and MP Supriya Sule had said he was dealing with chest congestion and had been advised antibiotics for a few days. Other health parameters were then said to be normal.
Active In Politics
Despite health concerns, Pawar has remained active in Maharashtra and national politics. He was recently re-elected to the Rajya Sabha and had taken oath as a member while seated in a wheelchair.
He was also expected to campaign in the Baramati Assembly by-election, though reports said his hospitalisation may affect those plans.
Senior Political Figure
Sharad Pawar is one of Maharashtra’s most influential political leaders, having served as Chief Minister of the state, Union Minister and a key national political strategist over several decades.
Further updates on his health are awaited.
