Tension Escalates at Pune RTO as Cab Companies Clash
After the meeting regarding the cab rates held at the RTO office today (23rd February) in the evening, tension erupted between taxi organizations. The workers of the organizations ransacked the conference hall of the office in a free style clash.
For the past few days, Ola Uber taxi drivers have been demanding new fares. Seven to eight organizations are trying this. A meeting in this regard was recently held in the Collector’s office under the guidance of the Collector. Since the opinions of the taxi drivers were not the same, the Collector had asked to hold a meeting in this regard in the RTO office. Accordingly, representatives of all taxi associations gathered at the RTO office around 5 pm on Friday.
After the meeting started, everyone discussed with the RTO officials. After the discussion was over, the RTO officials walked out of the meeting and due to internal disputes of some organizations, a scuffle started in the conference room of the office. In this, chairs were also thrown by breaking the glass in the conference room. At this time the RTO officials and employees tried to resolve this free style fight and asked the concerned unions to walk out of the office.
After that, the organizations went down and it was observed that there was a free style fight again in the office premises. Considering the seriousness of the incident, the RTO officials called the officials of the local police station. After entering the incident site, the police have detained some office bearers and workers of the organization. There has been a lot of talk in the RTO circles that this dispute has arisen over taking credit for taxi fare hike.
In this regard, RTO officials said that they were asked to hold this meeting as mediation of organizations. The meeting was held at the RTO office as the organizations could not agree on the cab fares. After the meeting, everyone came out. Suddenly, a fight started happening in which an RTO office was vandalized. They have informed the police about this.
