Two Teenagers Killed In Pune-Satara Highway Hit-And-Run, Driver Flees Scene
Two 17-year-old friends lost their lives after an unidentified vehicle rammed their motorcycle on the Pune-Satara Highway near Bhor. Police have launched a search for the absconding driver.
A tragic road accident on the Pune-Satara Highway has claimed the lives of two teenage students, leaving their families and local communities in shock.
The accident occurred near Sarola village in Bhor taluka when an unidentified speeding vehicle allegedly hit a motorcycle carrying two 17-year-old friends and fled the scene without stopping.
The victims were identified as Tushar Dadasaheb Shinde of Naigaon and Atharva Vijay Patil of Shirwal. According to police, the two teenagers were travelling from Nasrapur towards Shirwal on a two-wheeler when the accident took place.
Police said the unknown vehicle struck the motorcycle from behind with great force, completely wrecking the two-wheeler. One of the boys died on the spot, while the other succumbed to injuries during treatment.
The incident took place around 5.15 pm on Sunday in front of a hotel along the highway, according to preliminary information gathered by investigators.
Authorities have registered a case against the unidentified driver for fleeing the accident site without assisting the injured teenagers.
Based on a complaint lodged by a family member of one of the victims, Rajgad Police have started an investigation and are examining CCTV footage and other technical evidence from the area to identify the vehicle involved.
Police officials said efforts are underway to trace the driver responsible for the fatal crash.
The deaths of the two teenagers have cast a shadow over Naigaon, Shirwal and nearby villages.
Investigators believe crucial evidence from CCTV cameras and vehicle movement records could help identify the accused driver in the coming days.
Police have appealed to anyone with information about the accident or the vehicle involved to come forward and assist the investigation.
The probe is continuing.
