A video captures a thief breaking into a Mumbai filmmaker’s 6th-floor apartment through an open window. The intruder fled after the family’s pet raised the alarm.

Marathi filmmaker Swapna Waghmare Joshi recently had a frightening encounter, which was captured on her home’s CCTV. The footage shows a thief entering her 6th-floor Mumbai apartment through an open window. The intruder was quickly chased away after the family’s pet raised an alarm, alerting the household to his presence.

“Presenting the real crime patrol. This video is for all of us, especially senior citizens who live alone. You will be surprised to see how a thief climbs to the 6th floor of the residence of noted filmmaker Swapna Waghmare Joshi at Lokhandwala Complex, Andheri West, Mumbai, using pipes, and jumps out the same way when detected by a household member. These days, the security guards are either busy watching their mobiles or sleeping. Share this video as much as you can,” wrote filmmaker Ashoke Pandit, Joshi’s friend, while sharing the video.

The video reveals the thief entering the home through an open window, searching for valuables, and picking up the director’s daughter’s purse, which reportedly contained ₹6000. The clip also shows the thief leaping out the window to escape after being detected, thanks to the family’s pet. Joshi later filed a complaint with the Amboli police.

The video has garnered over 1.4 lakh views and nearly 1,000 likes, prompting a variety of reactions online, with many expressing their surprise at the incident.
