Mumbai/Pune, November 11: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a steady drop in temperatures across Maharashtra, indicating the onset of a cold wave in several regions. Clear skies and dry weather are expected to prevail throughout the state on November 12, with the chill intensifying during early mornings and late nights.

According to the IMD, the decline in minimum temperatures has already been recorded in parts of North Maharashtra and Vidarbha. The trend is likely to continue over the next few days, bringing a noticeable rise in cold conditions.

In Mumbai and adjoining suburbs, the sky will remain clear with a maximum temperature of around 34°C and a minimum of 21°C. Similarly, Palghar, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg districts are expected to experience dry and warm days with cooler nights.

In Pune, residents can expect mainly clear skies and a significant temperature dip. The maximum is likely to hover around 29°C, while the minimum may drop to 13°C. The IMD has advised residents in Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, Solapur, and the Ghat regions to stay cautious as temperatures continue to fall.

Moving east, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) will witness clear skies with a maximum temperature of 31°C and a minimum of 11°C. Other Marathwada districts such as Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur, and Dharashiv will also see a further decline in night temperatures.

In North Maharashtra, Nashik is likely to record a maximum of 31°C and a minimum of 12°C, with clear skies expected in Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, and Ahmednagar. The IMD has warned that temperatures could dip further in these regions.

Meanwhile, Vidarbha — including Nagpur, Akola, Amravati, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Wardha, Washim, and Yavatmal — will also experience clear skies and dry weather, with temperatures ranging between 28°C (max) and 12°C (min).

As Maharashtra transitions into the winter phase, the IMD has urged citizens to take necessary precautions, especially during early mornings and late evenings, to protect against the increasing cold.
