Pune :Ā Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has instructed the preparation of a feasibility test and a detailed project report for the construction of an elevated road flyover from Phoenix Mall to Kharadi-Wagholi on the Nagar Road, as well as an elevated road from Bhaironala to Loni Kalbhor on Solapur road, with provision for a metro system.

This directive was given during a meeting focused on roads and metros, where Pawar addressed the attendees, including MLAs Sunil Tingre, Chetan Tupe, Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao, Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar, MahaMetro Managing Director Shravan Hardikar, Additional Municipal Commissioner Ravindra Binwade, Dr. Kunal Khemnar, Vikas Dhakane, former corporators of Pune Municipal Corporation, and others.

During the meeting, Hardikar presented a detailed proposal for Phase-II of the Pune Metro’s connection with the national highway authority flyover at Kharadi on Nagar Road under the Mass Rapid Transit System. He mentioned that the proposal has already been submitted and sent to the urban development department, and further actions will be expedited as per the Deputy Chief Minister’s instructions.

Furthermore, Pawar emphasized the need for a project report on the metro line from Swargate to Loni Kalbhor, along with an integrated road from Bhairoba Nala to Loni Kalbhor on Solapur road, incorporating a flyover and provisions for the metro. He also highlighted the importance of considering the future inclusion of a metro between Loni Kalbhor and Uruli Kanchan, given the high volume of vehicles on the Solapur route.

To ensure the successful completion of the project, Pawar called for coordination among the NHAI, Pune Municipal Corporation, and MahaMetro. He stressed the importance of incorporating the latest technology in the preparation of the detailed project report, particularly for the stretch from Wagholi to Kharadi, excluding Phoenix Mall. During the meeting, Hardikar provided updates on the progress of the metro works.

He stated that the entire metro line from Vanaz to Ramwadi is scheduled to be completed and operational by December 2023. He also mentioned that the improved connectivity of PMPML buses to the metro stations will encourage a significant number of passengers to shift to the metro system.
