Bus Routes Diverted In Pune For Smooth Traffic Flow During Ganeshotsav Celebrations
To manage the heavy traffic expected during Ganeshotsav 2024, Pune’s traffic authorities are implementing alternative bus routes from September 7 to September 17, 2024. This decision aims to minimize disruptions for students, workers, and devotees traveling across the city.
With central Pune experiencing increased congestion due to the festival, traffic police will begin closing key roads, such as Shivaji Road, around 5:00 PM. In response, Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) buses will be rerouted to avoid these closures.
During the festival period, buses will be diverted from Shivaji Road to travel via Jangli Maharaj Road, Bal Gandharv, Deccan, Sambhaji Bridge, and Tilak Road to reach Swargate Chowk, where they will rejoin their normal routes. If Tilak Road is also closed, buses will take an alternative route via Shastri Road, Dandekar Bridge, Mitra Mandal Chowk, and Lakshmi Narayan Chowk before returning to their usual path. There will be no changes for buses traveling from Swargate to Shivajinagar unless traffic restrictions are placed on Bajirao Road.
Buses from Pune Station will follow their standard route via Sassoon Hospital, Mal Dhakka, PMC Building, Congress Bhavan, and Deccan Bus Station. For those traveling from Kondhwa to Pune Station, buses will be rerouted via Kelkar Road, A.B. Chowk, Lal Mahal, and Devji Baba Mandir Chowk before continuing to Hamze Khan Chowk and the regular route.
Additionally, buses heading from Pune Station to NDA will follow their normal path until Modern Bakery Chowk, after which they will be diverted through Seven Loves Chowk, Swargate, Nehru Stadium, Sarasbaug, and Tilak Road before reconnecting with the regular route at Deccan Corner. These route changes may be adjusted based on real-time traffic management instructions from the police.
