A day after allegations of misconduct surfaced against Dr. Puja Khedkar, a trainee IAS officer in Pune, the state government has taken action by transferring her to Washim as Supernumerary Assistant Collector, following a directive from Collector Dr. Suhas Diwase to the Chief Secretary.

Dr. Khedkar, who cleared the UPSC exam in 2021, recently made headlines for filing a plea against the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions, claiming recognition as a person with a disability. Her plea argued for similar benefits to PwD candidates as those for SC/ST candidates, citing greater hardships faced by PwD aspirants.

Reports indicated that Dr. Khedkar had allegedly requested facilities beyond what is typically provided to probationers, including an official car with a VIP number plate, a beacon light, and an office with adequate staff. It was noted that these requests contravened established rules for probationary officers.

Further scrutiny revealed that Dr. Khedkar utilized her private Audi car equipped with a red-blue beacon light and a VIP number plate. She also occupied the ante-chamber of Additional Collector Ajay More as her office space.

In addition to the controversy surrounding her professional conduct, Dr. Khedkar’s father, Dilip Khedkar, reportedly interfered in district affairs, claiming mistreatment of his daughter by district staff and cautioning against consequences.

Dr. Puja Khedkar, ranked 821 in the UPSC examinations, remains at the center of attention amid ongoing discussions regarding her actions and the repercussions they entail.
