Maharashtra, April 12, 2026:
The India Meteorological Department has issued a heat alert for Maharashtra, warning residents to avoid stepping out during afternoon hours as temperatures are set to rise sharply across the state. Following the recent spell of unseasonal rain, weather conditions have now turned hot and dry, with no rainfall expected in the coming days.
According to the latest forecast, temperatures across Maharashtra are likely to increase by 2–3 degrees Celsius over the next three days. The weather on April 12 is expected to remain clear, with intense heat conditions dominating most regions.
In the Konkan belt, dry weather will persist, accompanied by hot and humid conditions. Cities like Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, and Ratnagiri are expected to experience uncomfortable humidity, with maximum temperatures ranging between 34°C and 36°C, making the heat feel more intense.
In Madhya Maharashtra, including Pune, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, and Solapur, temperatures are expected to soar past 40°C in the coming days. Skies will remain mostly clear, with no rainfall warning issued, intensifying summer conditions.
The North Maharashtra region, covering Nashik, Ahilyanagar, Jalgaon, Dhule, and Nandurbar, will witness clear skies and dry weather. Maximum temperatures are expected to range between 34°C and 39°C, with no rainfall predicted.
In Marathwada, heat conditions have intensified again, with temperatures likely to cross 40°C over the next 2–3 days. The absence of rain and rising temperatures may worsen discomfort levels across the region.
Meanwhile, Vidarbha continues to reel under extreme heat, with temperatures already touching 42°C in parts of Akola and Amravati. Cities like Nagpur are also experiencing dry and scorching conditions, resembling heatwave-like situations, although no official heatwave warning has been issued yet.
Overall, the IMD has cautioned that the rising temperatures are likely to persist until at least April 15. Citizens, especially in Marathwada and Vidarbha, are advised to avoid outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours and take necessary precautions against heat-related illnesses.
