Pune: Metro Rail Announces Metro-Integrated Feeder Bus Services For IT Parks In Kharadi
Significant step towards improving public transportation in Pune, by Metro Rail for the city’s burgeoning IT sector.
In a bid to enhance connectivity with corporate offices, particularly IT Parks and SEZs in Kharadi, Pune, Metro Rail in collaboration with Capitaland Investment and PMPML, has announced the launch of metro-integrated employee feeder bus services. This initiative was conceived during an interactive Metro Samvad session with senior management teams from various IT companies based out of International Tech Park Pune (ITPP) Kharadi.
The feeder bus service aims to offer safe, seamless, smarter, convenient, reliable, economical and efficient transportation between Ramwadi Metro Station and the ITPP Campus. This step is expected to significantly improve the daily commute for employees working in these IT hubs.
Commuter Feedback and Concerns
While the initiative has been largely welcomed, several commuters have highlighted areas needing immediate attention.
A Twitter user commented, “Good initiative. Also now need to increase the coaches and frequency of the metro at peak evening hours. Between 5pm to 6.30pm the metro is completely crowded and hardly any space to even stand. Need to look into this aspect ASAP.”
Another commuter suggested improvements in shuttle frequency, “Shuttle frequency needs to be every 15 mins during peak hours. It needs to start at 4 from Kharadi instead of 4.30. Many people are interested in availing the facility, but improper planning and unrealistic shuttle timings are causing inconvenience, leading to a decline in interest in the metro service.”
Some users have pointed out the need for more sustainable solutions. “You should extend the Ramwadi line till Kharadi. That will be the long-term solution,” suggested a resident, emphasizing the need for infrastructural expansions to meet the growing demand.
With continued collaboration and feedback from commuters, Pune Metro Rail aims to refine and enhance these services further.
